PlasticsEurope
is one such organisation.
It is the only European trade association
headquartered in Brussels with representatives across
all European Union’s 27 member states. PlasticsEurope
has close partnerships with sister associations that
represent the European plastics manufacturing chain,
which includes 50,000 converters and over 1,000 machinery
manufacturers as well and is considered to be the official
voice of the European plastics manufacturers.
The Plastics Federation is a member
of the Global Litter Group. Relevant
Plastics Associations and polymer supplier companies
from various nations share information and agree actions
to defend plastics opposite negative environmental “attacks”,
to protect the environment and enhance sustainability,
and to provide information to regulators. Countries
participating include Argentina, Australia, Belgium,
Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico,
Spain, South Africa, Switzerland, UK, USA and other
European delegates.
The problems and issues are global
– and most importantly, South Africa has, through
regular interchange of information, access to the latest
environmental issues and technology and what can be
done to enhance the role of plastics in an environmentally
friendly way. Such information is vital to our environmental
strategies.
